Ron Magoon, USCG (Ret.), containing detailed descriptions of their activities relating to Hurricane Katrina rescue operations including: Atlantic Area Command preparations for Hurricane Katrina; assisting in supplying the USCG Eighth District, New Orleans, La., with additional aircraft, cutters, and operational assistance during post-Katrina; problems and solutions relating to connectivity issues and mobile communications to aid in the inland search and rescue operations; and discusses USCG's emergency management capabilities in planning, coordinating, and quickly moving assets, in particular, to areas requiring immediate rescue work.
